Moses Filter

Parting debris from the sea.

Nearly 100% of waste that comes into our storm drains ends in our oceans.

The Moses Filter device collects, analyzes, and profoundly reduces storm drain debris, solving complex municipal waste challenges at scale.

Marine life and human safety are impacted each year.

Impacts on our marine ecosystem include over 100 million marine animals killed by plastic and 1 million sea birds killed by ocean pollution. Water contamination by needles, plastic, chemicals, drugs, and over 120 billion cigarette butts enter our water supply. Storm drain pollution is also the number one cause of home disasters, and the number one cause of motor vehicle accidents in British Columbia due to hydroplaning from flooded storm drains.

What’s causing this?

Once debris and litter fills the bottom of a catch basin, excessive rainfall carries it through the sewers, where it contaminates our water supply and ends up in our oceans. Heavy grates make it challenging and costly to clean catch basins efficiently.

What we’re doing about it

North American patent-pending, our replaceable and recyclable BPA-FREE plastic filter is an alternative to the 150+ lbs. grates that dominate municipal street drains today. It catches nearly 100% of debris entering storm drains including top littered items identified by Greenpeace Canada.

We provide downstream data and analysis to municipalities to apply to their upstream priorities, customized employment to Individuals With All Abilities for more socially and financially responsible storm drain maintenance, and end-to-end service for establishments to pass inspections and meet Environmental, Social and Governance goals.
